i like the v-max's low seat height i.e. easy for short legged people to ride. the bikes are heavy like a rex and are not corner carvers ,but, straight line acceleration will make ya go :wow: if she takes it easy on the corners and respects the pullin grunt it has i think she would really like one................................................................................................chris

i've never ridden an sv, but i have a max, and it's a much larger bike. heavier than the rex even.

it doesn't handle real well, and can do some nasty things above 100

the seat is only good for 100 miles or so and the fuel, not much more.

it does have a low seat, mushy suspension and depending on the year, marginal brakes. the tires are bias, and you can't fit a radial on the rear.

it also has a motor that i can just stare at for hours. it sounds fantastic, especially with a pipe.

mine is used mostly for putting around town where it's problems aren't really an issue.

Definitely heavier. How strong is your wife?

I had an 04 for a few years. Tons of torque, sounded great with a Supertrapp but a tank in the corners. Definitely had a very heavy feel to it.

Everyone should own a V-Max once in their life. It is my cruiser of choice and can be a very nice motorcycle as long as you understand what it can, and cannot do. If you operate it within those guidelines you will be very pleased. If you don't this motorcycle will throw you on the ground and hurt you. There are aftermarket places that you can go to to make the V-Max better, but if railing the corners is in your repertoire, you would be better served with another motorcycle.
Don't get me wrong. I really loved my V-Max.
