This past weekend I just bought a First Gear Kilimanjaro Jacket. I havent really had a chance to use it yet, but so far I like it. I do have one complaint and maybe someone has some suggestions.

Its a long version jacket, and not thinking about it ahead of time, it rubs on my tank. Not by alot, but it does rub. I am wondering if anyone else here is using the same jacket and what you did about tank protection. I know I have seen people talk about the clear tank slapper option. But I didnt really want to get too crazy, I thought maybe just a small magnetic protector. But then again, will it stick to my snaps and zipper? and possibly attract small magnetic pebbles?

I dunno  Whats popular? I use to have a targa tank bra on my F4, but after some time it did start to burnish the paint. Other than that however, it was a great product.

My FirstGear jacket also rubs on the tank. Must be the jacket, not my midsection.:p
I put on the tankslapper film, as above. The jacket has actually marred the Scotch (or 3 M?) film that makes up the tankslapper.

I got a tank bra from Kawasaki.com! You have to make sure what year so that the design matches your bike! It's a tight fit, but no damage to the tank! I take it off only to wash and wax my bike! But it was quite expensive! If I remember correctly, it was around $100.00. Aloha From Hawaii, Victor #1434:thumbs:

How much of the tank does the t/s kit cover?I want to cover the area where my tank bag sits.

Ted,

The ZRX 1200 tankslapper set comes with a small piece that protects the area of the tank nearest the seat from those of us with middle age belly. The other 2 pieces, which are large, cover the indentation for the knees.

I had the same tank bag issues. I also ordered their rectangular piece that I cut to size to cover the top of the tank for protection against the tank bag. When my stealership ruined one of the knee area pieces, I used the paper backing for the original piece as a form to cut a replacement. I still have plenty left.

Just roll the bottom of the jacket backwards toward your stomach...
kinda like fold it back under the jacket... you know what I mean?

As for the back excess, just sit on it.

you'll like the jacket, very warm.

why dont you polish your tank like a cafe racer. THen you can just buff it out when it gets sratched. :D
